COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) CPC50220 is a nationally recognised qualification that prepares candidates to effectively plan, manage, supervise, and successfully complete the construction of medium-rise and wide-span buildings. This comprehensive program equips individuals with the necessary technical knowledge and managerial skills required in the building and construction industry.

The course is designed to meet the needs of medium-rise builders which covers the principles, techniques, and regulations of the building and construction industry for all types of medium-rise and wide-span buildings.

COURSE STRUCTURE

VC Education delivers industry-focused training and assessment that provides you with the skills, knowledge, and experience to achieve the Diploma of Building and Construction (Building).

VC Education’s Diploma of Building and Construction (Building), developed by industry professionals, is designed to align with current and emerging industry trends, offering practical, real-world applications.

To achieve this qualification, you must demonstrate competency in 28 units of competency comprised of 24 core units and 4 electives.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Must be 18 years or older
Demonstrate the required level of Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills
Completion of the general construction induction training program specified by the model Code of Practice for Construction Work. Achievement of unit CPCCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement
No formal pre-requisite required, however, it is beneficial for students to have relevant industry experience

OVERVIEW

This qualification reflects the role of building professionals who apply knowledge of structural principles, risk and financial management, estimating, preparing and administering building and construction contracts, selecting contractors, overseeing the work and its quality and managing construction work in building projects including residential and commercial with the following limitations:

  • Residential construction limited to National Construction Code Class 1 and 10 buildings to a maximum of 3 storeys.
  • Commercial construction limited to National Construction Code Class 2 to 9 buildings, Type C and B construction.

DELIVERY METHOD

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Assessment is available to candidates who possess a minimum of two (2) years of relevant industry experience. This assessment process is conducted by a qualified industry expert Trainer and Assessor. Following the completion of the RPL Assessment, candidates will receive a personalised Training Plan that outlines the units of competency to be undertaken for training and assessment.

Training is available through VC Education’s online Learning Management System (LMS), classroom-based sessions, or face-to-face sessions conducted at your workplace. The method of training delivery is tailored to meet the specific needs of each candidate.
